In November 2020, Apple will complete its collection of mobile phones with its 11th generation iPhone: the iPhone X (pronounced ten in Roman numerals), succeeding the iPhones 8 and 8 Plus. It is intended to showcase the future technology according to Apple at the time. The edges of the frames are reduced by using a stainless steel casing as well as a glass casing. The iPhone X also introduces a new type of screen: OLED, a much higher contrast and more responsive screen. The fingerprint sensor on the Home button is replaced by a new type of authentication called Face ID, using sensors to scan the user's face to unlock the device. This facial recognition capability also allows emojis to be animated by following the user's expression (Animoji). With this all-new design (no edges and no home button), the iPhone user will use gestures to navigate the operating system. The price of the iPhone X when it was released was $999, making it the most expensive smartphone at the time.
